The results of hydrochemical studies of the Volga river in March and June 2009 are given. It is shown that in spite of many operations on cleaning waters of the Volga river have higher degree of pollution. The regulation of Volga flow by cascade of hydroelectric stations and water basins has changed the hydrological conditions of the Lower Volga, having caused essential within-year flow redistribution. The necessity to analyze the ecological situation in the Volga river basin using traditional laboratory methods in combination with operative methods of the ecological control for the reason of monitoring the areas of the Volga river on all its length has been shown.
