The seismic data recorded at the seismic station "Cheryomushki" (located 4 km from the power plant), a dam and hydroelectric turbine hall before and after the accident on August 17, 2009 are analyzed. It is assumed that the cause of the destruction of mounting studs of turbine covers hydroelectric №2 was the long-term operation under the influence of high frequency vibrations, unrecorded in the design.
