The features of the river Bolkhovez functioning as the cascade hydro- chemical system are considered. The results of monitoring water quality in different economic use of catchment areas are produced. Spatial differences of the water chemical composition in these areas and the main phase of the hydrochemical state of the river over time are revealed using the method of cluster analysis. The space-time organization of the river as a cascade of hydro-chemical system is a reaction to the anthropogenic transformation of catchment areas, and it should be taken into account while planning monitoring studies and environmental rehabilitation.
