The existing schemes of inter-basin water transfers are considered.
Most of the existing schemes of inter-basin water transfers (127) are in developed countries, with the total water transfer volume of about 195 billion m3/year and developing countries (86 schemes) with that of about 400 billion m3/year. Most of projected schemes (59) are in developing countries, mainly China and India, with the total projected volume of water transfer of about 380 billion m3/year. 15 schemes were projected in the developed countries and had an expected volume of water transfer of about 700 billion m3/year. Such schemes are projected mainly in Canada and USA.
