The issues of environmental chemistry and environmental monitoring, pollutant migration and transformation in natural and anthropogenic systems are central in higher school’s education standards of relevant specialization and in curricular of working seminars and training courses. Development characteristics of analytical chemistry, on the one hand, and a very special role of water in man's life, on the other hand, caused that the environmental monitoring of water bodies became a priority in most national and regional observation systems.
Taking into account the interests and needs of experts, students and social organizations, the authors issued in 1995 the first version of reference materials on hydrochemistry that were subjected to modifications, additions, and inclusions in handouts, brochures, and books during the following five years and finally published in 1999 as an independent publication.
The reference materials on hydrochemistry are designed to provide the reader with quite abundant information about environmental regulation, classification of water bodies, general and cumulative indicators of water body quality, sources, forms of migration and transformation, as well as regulation of inorganic and organic matter contents in aquatic systems.
