A combined analysis of changes in statistical characteristics of air temperature, rainfall, mean annual, mean low-water and minimum monthly flow series for the rivers of the Volga basin was carried out for the whole observation period and for comparable periods 1935–1969 and 1970–2005. Re-evaluation of surface water and groundwater in the Volga basin was made for the period 1970–2005.
