The paper describes specific features of the Lower Angara region in terms of an impact of future industrial development on aquatic environment. Characteristics of present development are described and the strategic aspects of the future production structure formation are considered. Major disadvantages of the investment project “Integrated Development of Lower Angara” are shown with focus on environmental aspects. It is finally concluded that the regional development that does not damage environment is possibly only in case of application of modern technology.
