Most of crops in the Russian Federation are produced in the areas of risk farming characterized by deficit or excess of rainfall. The deficit of rainfall is observed in 80 % of arable land in the country. Excessive moistening is typical for 10% of arable land. Moreover, considerable area of agricultural land is subjected to erosion, deflation, salinization, acidification and other kinds of degradation. The Russian agriculture is still ill protected from the negative impact of both natural and economic risks.
