On Monday the UN General Assembly proclaimed 2013 the International Year of Water Cooperation, the agency reports referring to the Russian edition of the UN Radio.

According to United Nations Radio, the first such initiative by the President of Rahmon at the World Water Forum in Istanbul in March 2009. Co-sponsored the resolution were 18 states, including Armenia, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine.
