Kazakh scientists predict several options for the development of ecological disaster in Balkhash in intensive water abstraction on the Ili river. About this in an interview with "Megapolis" said Kuanysh Isbekov, general director of the Kazakhstan Scientific Research Institute of Fisheries, the agency reports.
As explained by K. Isbekov, a drop of water level in the lake is influenced by several conditions, especially dry and the cyclicity of abounding. "But there is a man-made causes. Since the main artery of the Balkhash - it's Il river, which is a cross-border with China, the first large volume of water is taken away in China, more precisely, in the Sinczyan-Uygur Autonomous Region" - he said.
