Development of the Institute’s branches

In 1991, SPA SANIIRI was transferred under umbrella of the Ministry of Land Reclamation and Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Cuttings in the budget of the SPA have led gradually to reduction of its branches to 30 in 1995 and 20 by 2000.

In 1992, an Interstate Coordination Water Commission of Central Asia was established. According to its decision, SANIIRI was assigned as a Scientific Information Center for water problems (SIC ICWC).

Later, in 1996, upon ICWC’s decision, SIC ICWC was separated from SPA SANIIRY and became an independent institution.
