The problem of influence of the Volga cascade on economic sphere of the Volga region and the country as a whole is investigated. Its analysis has shown that manufacture of a considerable quantity of the electric power first of all for the large industry, and also improvement of conditions of navigation, an irrigation of the considerable areas of the droughty earths and water supply of the industrial enterprises and the population was priority problems of hydroknots. Large-scale hydrobuilding was many-sided, difficult and inconsistent process which along with achievements has led to numerous costs.
