The article is concerned with an improved design of the water metering unit for water content control in canals with earthy beds. Water content records make it possible to control water consumption and provide the basis for managing water resources in irrigation systems. Currently, irrigation water is used inefficiently, the greatest losses fall on the in-farm canals during transportation and operation. Most of the in-farm canals with earthy beds in Kyrgyzstan are covered with facing. The efficiency of the above measuring unit consists in improving the metrological characteristics and operation conditions of the facility as well as in reducing the cost of its construction.
