The problem of influence of global building of hydraulic engineering objects on social and economic sphere of the Volga pool is analyzed. It is established that the hydroelectric power stations construction was considered from positions of complex development of region with an unconditional priority of the large industrial enterprises. As a result the urbanization was essentially accelerated, and creation of water basins has led to loss of territories favorable for residing and resettlement of people.
